Training update

Training update

In between moving to the other side of the world and visiting Paris for the day, I have actually managed to sneak a few workouts in. I took a conveniently-timed deload starting the day we left Sydney, so I’ve only worked out three times since then. Read the rest of this entry »

Choose your reward

Choose your reward

For those of you who have been following my blog for a while and have noticed my husband’s snarky “cardio is for suckers” comments, you will be as thrilled as I am that he now has to do daily cardio! He has been leaning out since October and the time has finally come for him to suck it up and do some cardio. Read the rest of this entry »

Why you need to do Tabatas

Why you need to do Tabatas

One of my biggest pet peeves in the gym is when I see people wasting their time on the cardio equipment. You don’t need to be an expert to know how to walk on a treadmill or use the elliptical machine. And you definitely should be able to determine if you’re working up a real sweat or simply fluffing around. Read the rest of this entry »

Why I love yoga

Why I love yoga

I never used to enjoy yoga. I went to my first class when I was about 15 and couldn’t understand why people were paying to do a class where you spent most of the time doing something you could do at home: stretch and sleep! Read the rest of this entry »

Bye bye cardio

Bye bye cardio

Overcoming body demons

Overcoming body demons

One of the hardest things about undergoing a physical transformation is the mental adjustment that inevitably has to accompany it. For the majority of my life, growing up as a dancer, it was drilled into me that the skinnier you were the better. Read the rest of this entry »

Fitness questions – answered!

I hear the same kind of questions about working out over and over again. While some are still largely up for debate, I have done my best to address some of the most common questions regarding frequency of training, types of workouts and fuel for training, giving you my opinion of what I believe is right and wrong. Five essential lower body exercises

Five essential lower body exercises

Everyone needs to do strength training. I see girls every day who go to the gym and slog it out on the treadmill until they are blue in the face, only to have the exact same overweight body as what they started with. By not venturing into the weights area, you will never get the lean and toned body you are looking for. Read the rest of this entry »
