Hi.. Love reading your post’s as I am relatively new at the gym (couple of months) and I love reading anything on fitness and health. I have found I am really liking weights and how I good I feel afterwards. But want to know what your routine is in regards to your warm up and cool down (stretches) is before and after lifting weights? And how many times a week should you work what muscels?

Thanks, Kerry, and I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying lifting weights. I walk to the gym every morning, which takes about half an hour and gets the blood pumping. At the start of each exercise I do one or two warm up sets with a high number of reps (15-30, depending on the body part) to get the blood into the muscle, followed by three to four sets lifting heavier at a lower rep range. I don’t do a cool down, but I stretch throughout my workout during my rests.

I talk about how many times a week you should work out each body part in this post, but generally once per week per body part:

Let me know if you have any other questions!
