New year, new recipe

New year, new recipe

Today was my last day of holidays after having almost two glorious weeks off. I don’t think I’ve ever felt so lazy in my life! It seems like all I’ve done is eat, lay around and nap. I had quite a lot of tedious tasks planned for the holiday break but I generally failed at completing them: after the hectic mess that was December, I found that once I unwound it was hard for me to feel motivated again. Thankfully I had some butt-kicking workouts thrown in there to occupy some of my time (and it’s funny how I can be so driven when it comes to working out, but not so much with other aspects of my life!). Diet on hold

Diet on hold

This week I started my new diet program to lean out. After discovering yesterday that my trainer only wants me to follow this program for one month, however, I stopped. My mother-in-law, Shirley, arrived on Tuesday and while I have been doing as best as I can with food choices, we have been eating a lot of meals together – and a lot of meals in restaurants. Chicken peanut curry

Chicken peanut curry

This is super tasty and a good way to mix it up if you’re tired of eating the same old chicken and vegetables. Definitely a good one for those who love their peanut butter! Read the rest of this entry »

Coughs and cookies

Coughs and cookies

As I mentioned in a previous post, I started to get sick at the end of last week. While I initially thought it was stress-related, I woke up on Sunday morning gasping for water to soothe my sandpaper-resembling throat. I usually only get one cold a year and, luckily it’s never anything particularly nasty – I like to think that’s because of my strong immune system built up through years of healthy eating and being active. Chocolate protein bars

Chocolate protein bars

If you read my previous post on sugar, you’ll know I’m not the biggest fan. However, I do approve of sugar in moderation. Although the following protein bars contain dried fruit and juice, they are a great post workout snack and will deliver both the protein and carbs your body needs to fuel recovery. Carb-free Mexican

Carb-free Mexican

I love Mexican food. Minus the deep-fried burrito bread, layers of cheese and big dollops of cream, it’s actually pretty healthy – it is, after all, just meat, rice and beans. I satisfy my Mexican cravings while still maintaining a clean diet with this super easy meal, which has a real kick to it and is sure to fire up your metabolism! Read the rest of this entry »

Delicious clean fish

Delicious clean fish

While I love my Jamie Oliver recipes, I have never once thought any of his recipes would be clean enough to eat on an every day basis. But, finally, success! With some slight modifications, I made this delicious fish – it was so nice to have fish that wasn’t frozen and simply flavoured with salt and pepper. Read the rest of this entry »

Healthy bolognaise

Healthy bolognaise

I have a cheat meal once a week. It usually alternates between a Jamie Oliver recipe, a Thai curry or pasta. Normally, I wouldn’t dream of posting my cheat meal on the Internet for the world to see; however, this week’s meal was very healthy. I was craving my delicious bolognaise: something that is definitely healthy enough to be included in a clean-eating diet – just not mine, as my carb intake at night is practically non-existent.
