Spotting the lies

Spotting the lies

When I wrote a post about gender stereotypes a few weeks ago, it brought up so many emotions. I hate knowing that 95 per cent of women are afraid of lifting weights – mostly because they don’t want to get bulky like a man. But then I started to think why so many women believe this. Gender double standards

Gender double standards

I have now finished all of my studying for my personal trainer certification, and I have my assessments booked for mid-March. So by the end of next month I should – finally – be a fully qualified PT! Read the rest of this entry »

Breaking the stereotype

Breaking the stereotype

This post is going to be extremely egotistical so feel free to skip it. But the time has come to address one of my biggest pet peeves, and something that I believe is extremely damaging to the fitness industry. Read the rest of this entry »

Embrace your individuality

Embrace your individuality

Some people are naturally thin, some naturally curvy. Others will lose fat extremely slowly despite their best efforts, while others will quickly gain muscle with very little fat on the side. You should never assume that what works for one person will work for you, especially if it’s someone who has been training for a number of years. Read the rest of this entry »

Top 5 contenders

If you missed my last post, make sure you catch up on my exciting career/life news! Since I’ve started studying for my PT certification, my mind has been racing with all the things I can’t wait to do. Unhelpful advice

Unhelpful advice

One of the things that irks me most in the world is the massive amount of misleading and incorrect information out there regarding health and fitness. In the past week I have received several emails asking for advice, and the one thing that is common among almost all of them is that people are confused about what and when to eat, how and when to train, and who to trust (I love getting emails from you guys but, as I always say, I’m not a personal trainer or nutritionist – yet! – so take what I say as you will). No easy solution

No easy solution

For the past few years people have asked me for my secret to staying fit and healthy. Of course, there is no secret: just eat healthy and exercise! Evidently my response is not the one they are looking for. No one (yet – I live in hope!) has followed through with the advice I have given; instead changing nothing and feeling sorry for themselves because there’s no magic solution to their problems. To all the haters…

To all the haters…

Today was not a good day to piss me off. It was my monthly deadline at work, I had a migraine, and I strangely had no energy when I woke up meaning that my workout was pitiful and painful and left me feeling incredibly depressed. And then I get the same old idiots telling me that I’m crazy for wanting to be a body builder and that I’m going to develop more testosterone than a man. Seriously. Read the rest of this entry »
